How To Network On Social Media Like a Pro

Read Time:2 Minute, 25 Second

Have you ever started a conversation at a coffee shop with a stranger? a supermarket?

Had a wonderful conversation, and at the conclusion of it, you and they exchanged contact information.

You can network with people in the same way you would in a coffee shop or grocery store by using social media. Of course, only online.

With these suggestions, having a social media coffee chat is simple!

1. Find people to network with

Many people network with others on social media for a variety of reasons, such as seeking advice, finding someone with similar interests to talk to, connecting with successful people you admire, etc.

Search for them on your social media with the intention of networking with them, for example:

  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Twitter
  • Youtube
  • Pinterest
  • Facebook

STEP 1:

Look for users both inside and outside of your niche, check out their content, and follow them on social media.

STEP 2:

When you pitch your message to the network, like and comment on their social media posts so they are familiar with your icon and username.

2. Describe yourself

The introduction is the key to networking—no pressure.

Make sure that your introduction accurately captures who you are and your personality, whether it be on Instagram, Twitter, or another social media platform. You should include the following in your introduction message:

  • Who are you
  • Describe your work
  • Who are you messaging, and how did you find them?
  • Discuss their content
  • Give them a reason to connect with you
  • Make a proposal for a collaboration

3. Schedule a meeting

You found someone to network with, sent them a message, and they accepted! Great!

Additionally, getting to know that person personally will help you develop a stronger bond with them.

Set up a meeting time using Zoom, Facetime, Skype, or another video chat programme. Or, if they are nearby, see if they’d like to meet up with you somewhere to talk.

When you’re chatting with them, inquire about their advice, occupation, struggles, hobbies, lifestyle, experiences, and so on.

4. Maintain contact

Talk to the person you are networking with occasionally, leave comments on and like their posts, and keep requesting their tips and advice.

Whatever your line of work, you will gain knowledge from the person you are networking with as you advance in it. Tell them what you discovered, for instance, how to:

  • Keep your schedule organised throughout the day to avoid missing deadlines
  • Professional email communication
  • Utilize a focused online programme

5. Continue your networking

It’s great to network with a variety of people, just make sure you keep in touch with them and have a few conversations here and there.

The relationships you make here could be lifelong, and the skills you pick up from others are genuine and one-of-a-kind.

Another benefit of networking is that it builds your reputation, fosters personal development, and enhances your skill set.

People will start requesting your help in networking so they can do the same and gain knowledge from you.
